Community Events: 10th Annual Break Free Run

10th Annual Break Free Run in Folsom is a walk/run fundraiser to bring awareness and funds to fight against human trafficking in our area. It was held September 28th, 2019. This is PCS’s third year at the Break Free Run as a vendor. It is a great event to reach out about our services because human trafficking can be tied with unplanned pregnancies.

It was a misty cool day for the run, but thousands showed up to support! Our booth outreach is effective in reaching more people that we can help, and networking with other businesses and getting new volunteers. Volunteer Corner: Cindy Stevens

What year did you begin at PCS? I began volunteering at PCS in early 2016.

What were some of your reasons for doing so? I had recently retired and I had always planned to find an organization where I could donate some of my time and apply some of the gifts and skills I had acquired from over 35 years working. Upon hearing from a dear friend how PCS opens their doors to help women of all ages who are facing planned or unplanned pregnancies, and without judgment, I knew PCS was the organization that I wanted to support!

What do you enjoy about working at PCS? When I am at PCS, I love knowing that we are providing help and support to young girls and women who in many cases feel they have no where to turn to obtain answers to their questions. In addition to enjoying the one-on-one interaction that we have with our clients, I also really enjoy being involved in our annual fundraiser, which provides me the opportunity to speak with businesses and churches in El Dorado county and tell them about PCS.

How have you seen God work at PCS? I have definitely seen God's work at PCS, in both the lives of our clients and in our business and church community. Its very exciting as we watch our clients go through and complete our Earn While You Learn Program with a newly found maturity, confidence and excitement for caring for their children, which I definitely attribute to God's work in the lives of these women.

GOD Did It!: 2nd Annual Wonderfully Made Banquet was a Success

Our 2nd Annual "Wonderfully Made" Banquet with this year's theme, "Let's DO Something", was a huge success. It was a beautiful evening of hope-filled stories, examples of God's grace, and a vision for where HE is moving PCS.  We are beyond grateful for our “Changing Lives” Sponsor Aborn Powers for their commitment to PCS!

AND, God blew us away by surpassing our fundraising goal of $40,000 and raised $42,462!!! He is so good!! The event was held at the Cameron Park Country Club on Saturday, September 14th. Over 200 guests enjoyed wine and appetizers while bidding on our silent auction items and beautiful raffle baskets! Silent auction items featured tickets to Disneyland, portrait sessions, a limo wine tasting tour, Kings tickets, Bogle wine, Mini Sierra vacation getaway, golf at Cameron Park Country Club, golf membership, and 49er tickets. Thank you to all who donated these amazing items and to all who bid on them.!

We shared stories of how our Parenting101 education strengthens the relationships we have with our clients in an interview with Sheena Lewis.  Sheena shared how the Parenting101 classes at PCS have given her confidence and encouragement in her parenting of her two sons. The friendship she formed with her client advocate still continues today!

Jessica Albin shared how PCS saw past her "unloveableness" and loved her for who she is.  In 2014 Jessica began coming through our doors for the “free diapers” and continued because she was treated as a person created in God’s image. God's love now shines through her as she counsels women who have similar backgrounds as she did.

Al Soto, pastor from Bayside of Placerville, shared his own personal testimony of why this ministry is near and dear to his heart and urged everyone to consider becoming a part of something bigger and joining PCS's ministry vision by supporting PCS financially.

FROM THE TREASURER & BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Thank you for all your support of our ministry. First and foremost, we at PCS are excited in this new direction and growth you have provided.

As you can see from our latest Profit and Loss statement (see inside), you have been very good to us. This has led us to dream and think much bigger and now we are putting these larger plans into action. Your generous support has now       allowed us to start the process to go full medical clinic. We are looking for larger facilities to accommodate more space for our counseling services and to provide additional space for the medical clinic. Additionally, we need to purchase all the     equipment necessary to operate a medical clinic, specifically the purchase of an ultrasound machine. We also need to hire medical staff and nurses. We are in conversation with a doctor to oversee our medical clinic.

Although the financial numbers of the P&L statement you see appear to be very good (and they are), our expenses are   going to be increased substantially over the next 12 to 18 months. Our rent will triple and our payroll will increase with the addition of medical staff.

We expect medical startup costs to be in the neighborhood of $100,000. We have just recently secured that amount in a separate “medical start up” account. In addition, our current 2019 budget is/was $75,000; our 2020 budget is estimated at $125,000 plus. Once the medical clinic is completed, we estimate our annual budget costs to be in the range of $200,000 to $225,000 per year. So, we still have some work to do. In our current revenue environment, we would need around a 15% to 20% increase in revenue. Reviewing our last 3 years of income history, we are confident God will provide these funds.

In summary, because of your support, you have allowed us to embark on this huge undertaking of going full medical clinic to serve all of El Dorado County. The expenses will be large, but we will be equipped with the latest in medical technology and staff to “double down” on our basic mission: to save babies from abortion and to support women and their families to carry their babies to term and beyond, in the name of Jesus Christ. Together we can do our part to make abortion unthinkable.
